This certainly explains why Citibank gave me a 1.99% promotional rate when I called to close the account only to turn around a month later and raise my standard purchase rate from 8.74% to 13.99%.

Opted out and the account is closed. 

But its okay because I have hated the credit card companies and their shenanigans for quite a while. Sheesh, I thought I was doing the right thing by paying on time (early, actually), more than the minimum due and not taking on any new debt. Citibank has a different view. Debtor beware.</description>
